On the Road - Cycling Route [Stage 4]
The journey starts by crossing the bridge over the Guadiana River, followed by a section that goes up the hills towards the Minas de São Domingos. We will take a detour at an intersection on the right, following the scenic road that passes through small villages such as Fernandes, Tamejoso and Picoitos, until we reach Pomarão and its old mining port. Here you may also see the dam on river Chança.
The path continues towards Santana de Cambas, where the smuggling museum can be visited. Later on, Moreanes will appear on your way to the Minas de São Domingos, the main destination of the day, with all its industrial heritage, including ruins, lakes and bridges. Nearby, a good place to relax will be the beach of Tapada where you can find a pleasant terrace and even take a dip if the weather is inviting.
Return to Moreanes, then follow the road towards Corvos and the end of the journey will be reached on the return to Mértola, closing the loop along the Guadiana Valley Natural Park.
