easy
Distance 10 km
Corte Gafo de Baixo is the gateway for this path along with the natural landscapes of Lower Alentejo where you will see cork and holm oaks (Quercus suber and Quercus ilex) with shrubs providing refuge and feeding areas for many animal species. In fact, you will be walking through the Natural Park of river Guadiana with its high levels of biodiversity and protected habitats.
As you walk towards the river you will gradually descend into the valley, which will bring you close to the water. From here the path will end at Moinho de Canais, an ancient water mill with a dike in front. You may explore the surroundings and take time to watch for many bird species, including endangered species such as the Black Stork.
